The Definition of Anxiety

Earlier this year, about a month ago now I guess, I was listening to an episode of Fear the Boot where they interviewed a man named Ryan Dancey. Ryan is the man that is responsible for Wizards of the Coast buying TSR back in the late 90's. Anyway, in the episode he made a prediction that sometime this year the gaming industry was going to take a hit because of electronic games like World of Warcraft. He noted that people were playing these games more and more and spending less time using their imagination or being social in a face to face level, both of which are key to playing RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons or World of Darkness.

Since the interview I've been absolutely terrified that something is gonna happen to the gaming industry. So much so that I've started doing what I did when I got into the World of Darkness a few years ago and that's buy every book I can get my hands on. Only this time I'm not spending my entire paycheck on books and not skipping bills or going without food. I'd branch off and buy new minis if I had someone to play the D&D minis with or even more card games.

I've been playing RPGs since 1997 and I'm not about to quit. I never want to see anything happen to the industry. Well, nothing bad anyway. If it got bigger then that would be great I think. I love my video games, don't get me wrong. There are some times where I just want to be entertained without having to think too much, lol. I never want to see anything bad happen to either industry. I just hope that things for thr roleplaying industry turn out ok.
